HL PLASTICS
EUR 11.3m investment in new warehouse / Rising demand for “Liniar” PVC(U) product portfolio
UK window and door components producer HL Plastics (Denby; www.hlplastics.co.uk) is set to begin work on a GBP 8m (EUR 11.3m) expansion at its Derbyshire headquarters. The company – which was just acquired by Quanex Building Products (Houston, Texas / USA; www.quanex.com) for USD 145m (see Plasteurope.com of 24.06.2015) – in August received planning permission for a new 14,000 m2 warehouse that will be located next to its factory and mixing plant at group HQ. The move will bring all of its manufacturing divisions on one site – at present, the foiling plant for its “Liniar” eco-friendly range of PVC(U) windows, doors, roofs and other products is located a few kilometres away.
The new warehouse will create 200 additional jobs in the next three years, HL Plastics said, adding that the decision to expand was prompted by rising demand for the Liniar portfolio. As part of the investment, the company will also create an installer training centre, which will work with local education institutions to address the skills shortage in the industry.
