New EPS packaging plant established in Romania / Production will meet increased demand from Samsung / Start-up scheduled for August
Hirsch Servo (Glanegg / Austria; www.hirsch-gruppe.com) is establishing a new EPS packaging production plant in Oradea / Romania to meet increased demand from electronics giant Samsung. The plant will produce about 600 t/y of EPS packaging material, mainly for monitors, televisions as well as audio and video systems, Hirsch Servo said. Production at the new facilities is expected to begin in August 2011.
Hirsch said it decided to establish the new plant after Samsung increased its production in Romania. The EPS specialist currently supplies EPS packaging to Samsung from its plant in Jászfényszaru / Hungary. “Hirsch’s philosophy is to manufacture packaging as close to the customer as possible in order to avoid shipping products over long distances and to reduce carbon emissions,” said Siegfried Wilding, board member responsible for EPS processing.
This will be Hirsch’s second production site in Romania. The company already produces EPS insulation in Cluj / Romania.
