Zhafir Plastics Machinery (Ebermannsdorf / Germany; www.zhafir.com), a subsidiary of leading injection-moulding machinery maker Haitian International (Hong Kong / China; www.haitianinter.com) has opened the first section of its new plant in China. More than 650 guests attended the official opening ceremony on 18 May at the site in Chunxiao, Ningbo.
The complex has a production area of about 120,000 m² where up to 5,000 injection-moulding machines can be manufactured each year. The company is planning for a total production area of approximately 300,000 m² with a maximum capacity of 10,000 machines annually. “The production will focus first on the successful Venus series and the new Zeres series. Other models will gradually be added to the portfolio,” said Fu Nanhong, general manager of Zhafir Plastics Machinery.
The plant also includes an R&D department with about 50 engineers, a technology and application centre, a paint shop as well as facilities for machine assembly and testing, and metal/sheet-metal processing.
Several warehouses are located directly adjacent to the individual sub-assembly modules which will reduce internal transportation routes and supply times, and enable more transparent management of stock levels.
The company said the Chunxiao plant’s modular concept and focus on sub-assembly stations makes it highly cost efficient and drastically reduces production times.
Meanwhile, further capacity expansions are planned for its facility in Germany – see Plasteurope.com of 02.07.2014.
