GW PLASTICS
Health care moulding and assembly joint venture established in Costa Rica / Improved access to Latin American market
In order to better serve its Latin American customers, US precision moulder and contract manufacturer GW Plastics (Bethel, Vermont; www.gwplastics.com) in early June announced the opening of a new joint venture medical manufacturing plant located in Cartago / Costa Rica. Together with the Corporación Proveedora de Servicios de Maquila y Moldeo (Corprosemm, Cartago / Costa Rica; http://corprosemm.com) – the Costa Rican corporation provider of contract manufacturing and moulding – GW Plastics brought into being GW Plastics Cartago, in which the US company holds a majority stake.
The new jv is located in Corporsemm’s injection moulding and clean room facilities in the Cartago-Techno Park Free Zone, and scheduled to begin production this summer. Early next year, GW Plastics Cartago is set to move to GW Plastics’ new and larger facility, which is currently still under construction.
Aside from its North American facilities, GW Plastics also operates plants in Querétaro / Mexico and Dongguan / China.
