Recycler Aliplast takes over PET processing plant in Italy

Composites specialist Gurit (Wattwil, Switzerland; www.gurit.com) has sold its PET recycling plant in Italy as previously announced. The site in Carmignano di Brenta was acquired by recycling company Aliplast (Ospedaletto d’Istrana, Italy; www.aliplastspa.com), a subsidiary of the Hera Group (Bologna, Italy; www.gruppohera.it). The purchase price was not disclosed.

The facility in Carmignano di Brenta, located near the northern Italian city of Vicenza, has a capacity of 15,000 t/y of PET recyclate. With this acquisition, Aliplast not only expands its recycling capacity, but also gains additional storage space.

Aliplast, which operates sorting and recycling sites in Italy (Borgolavezzaro, Gualdo Cattaneo, Formigine, and Quinto di Treviso), France (La Wantzenau), Poland (Tuszyn), and Spain (Onda), produces over 100,000 t/y of recyclates based on PET, LDPE, and HDPE, as well as polypropylene from post-consumer waste.
