GURIT
125 employees at Canadian plant temporarily laid off
Due to the marine and wind energy market’s greatly fluctuating demand for structural foam products since the economic crisis hit in 2008, composite materials manufacturer Gurit (Wattwill / Switzerland; www.gurit.com) has announced that it will temporarily cut the workforce at its plant in Magog / Canada by 125 workers.
The group said it believed the measures were of a transitory nature and hoped to recall several employees in March. Most employees, Gurit said, would hopefully be able to return to work in six months.
