Using its recently established Swiss subsidiary Transalpack, French company Guillin (Ornans; www.groupeguillin.fr), a producer of thermoformed trays for meat, vegetables and fruit, has purchased a 67% majority of packaging trader and distributor Thermoflex (Lonay / Switzerland; www.thermoflex.ch). The companies have a long-standing partnership.
Thermoflex specialises in the sale of food packaging, from EPS trays over PLA cups to plates made of palm leaves. The company, led by Philippe Besson, most recently generated a turnover of EUR 12m.
According to Guillin CEO Sophie Guillin, the strategic expansion in Switzerland is an important milestone. The French group sees the neighbouring country as a growing market and plans to focus on development more strongly here.
In mid-2019, Guillin acquired Romsey-based rigid films and sheet producer Flight Plastics (UK) – see Plasteurope.com of 25.06.2019.
