Rigid plastic sheet manufacturer Coexpan (Madrid / Spain; www.coexpan.com) part of Grupo Lantero (Madrid; www.grupolantero.com) has agreed to buy the thermoforming unit of BO Packaging Chile (Santiago / Chile; www.bo.cl). Financial details were not disclosed.
The deal, executed through subsidiary Coexpan Coembal Chile, expands the group’s portfolio of PS, PP, PET and PLA thermoforming and extrusion capacities. “The acquisition of BO Packaging Chile forms part of our global thermoforming strategic plan and it will enable us both to reinforce our presence in an area that is strategic for the division and to broaden our portfolio of rigid packaging products in other countries in the short term,” said Coexpan CEO Dinis Mota. BO Packaging will continue running its facilities in Peru and Brazil.
Coexpan Coembal Chile’s plant in Quilicura, Santiago, currently produces a range of PS, PP and PET-based products that are mainly aimed at packaging fresh food, dairy products, ready-prepared meals, personal care products and household items, among others. Coexpan has two other existing plants in the Americas – in Brazil and Mexico.
In January 2018, Coexpan announced the completion of an expansion project in Roye / France, where it has added a 7,000 t/y extrusion line – see Plasteurope.com of 23.01.2019.
