Grupa Azoty (GA; Tarnow, Poland; www.grupaazoty.com/en/), the second largest Polish petrochemical and polymer group after Orlen (Plock; www.orlen.pl/en), has a new boss – Adam Leszkiewicz was appointed CEO at the end of March. As with Orlen, Azoty also experienced a major upheaval in February following the change of government in Poland; almost all members of the management board around the then-CEO Tomasz Hinc were removed from office.
Leszkiewicz knows his way around the chemical and energy industry. From 2017 to 2022, he was on the management board of Steag Energo Mineral, where he was responsible for strategy, business development, and M&A, among other things. The economics graduate from the University of Krakow is also familiar with Grupa Azoty – from 2012 to 2016, he held the position of CEO at the GA subsidiaries in Kędzierzyn and Chorzów. Before joining Grupa Azoty, Leszkiewicz worked for two years as state secretary at Poland’s Ministry of State Assets.
