Plastics mould-maker announces major job cuts
On 11 January, 2006, a subsidiary of mould manufacturer Groupe Duarte (Le Quesnoy / France; www.groupe-duarte.com) was placed under "Redressement judiciaire". This, basically, amounts to performing a company restructuring process with creditor protection. The company, Atlancim, which specialises in plastics moulds, has since made 83 of its total of 215 employees at the Clisson site redundant. The reason is a drastic fall in sales – around 50% – after its main customer Plastic Omnium (Levallois / France; www.plasticomnium.com) withdrew its business almost completely.
