"Patelina" meat and fish pâtés from Neoplanta (Novi Sad / Serbia; www.neoplanta.rs), part of Serbia’s Nelt Group (www.nelt.com), are now packaged in resealable cups from Greiner Packaging International (GPI, Kremsmünster / Austria; www.greiner-gpi.com). The barrier packaging has been developed by GPI for markets in the south east of Europe, including Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia and is claimed to be the first of its kind developed for meat and fish pâté in the region.
The packaging, which holds 90 g of content, offers high protection against oxidation and prevents the contents from drying out through material combinations and engineered production. Made of PP and EVOH, the cups are produced using thermoform technology and the lids – made of PP – are produced through injection moulding.
Patelina meat and fish pâtés are convenience foods produced under the traditional Serbian brand, Neoplanta. There are currently eight types of pâté available: ham, salmon, liver, chicken, chicken with herbs, turkey, tuna, and tuna with corn. Kenneth Boldog, head of division K at GPI, said: “Previously, Patelina meat and fish pâtés were packaged in aluminium containers or cans. They had to be consumed very soon after opening the packaging. Our new packaging makes it possible to reseal, preserve, and enjoy it in several stages.”
