Thanks to the installation of a new injection stretch molding machine at its site in Dungannon, Northern Ireland / UK, Greiner Packaging International (GPI, Kremsmünster / Austria; www.greiner-gpi.com) has been able to enlarge its “Kavo” product range in the region. The first bottles to come off the manufacturing belt are 2.3 l PET cans produced for sauce producer Rich Sauces (Newtownards / UK; www.richsauces.com). The containers have an 80mm opening and will be filled with 27 different kinds of sauces and dressings.
Commenting on the increase in output, Günter Ausserwöger, head of GPI’s Kavo division, said, “We expect good market opportunities for packaging in these dimensions and expect to continue enlarging our product assortment.” Greiner had invested some GBP 2.7m in the plant at the beginning of this year to expand a line for dairy packaging. The Austrian packaging specialist also uses rPET at the site.
