GREINER PACKAGING
New cups plant in Czech Republic / Now 15 production sites throughout Europe
Greiner Packaging International (A-4550 Kremsmünster; www.greiner-gpi.com) officially inaugurated a new plant at Litvinov in the Czech Republic in September. According to the company, the facility, which actually has been in operation since February, manufactures “large quantities” of standard cups made of “K1” pure plastic composites. Total investment at the site was EUR 16m. The plant, which employs 150 people, will supply primarily the central and central-eastern European markets.

The Austrian packaging group now has 15 production sites across Europe. Apart from the standard K1 cups, the company also produces sleeved and labelled cups (“K2”) and containers of plastics/cardboard composites (“K3”). The “Kavo” hollow body plastic business group takes in packaging of PET, PP, PE and PC for various industries such as toys, pharmaceuticals and health care, cosmetics, water, alcoholic drinks and household products. In 2003, Greiner Packaging, with a workforce of over 1,700, posted sales of EUR 179m, equal to 27.5% of the total sales of the Greiner Group (www.greiner.at).
