Acquisition in Poland / Multilayer and barrier film / Half of Mould & Matic sold to Haidlmair
Packaging specialist Greiner Packaging (HQ: A-4550 Kremsmünster; www.greiner-gpi.com) is strengthening its position in central Europe with the acquisition of M & A Folia Spzoo (PL-05-825 Grodzisk Mazowiecki; www.mafolia.pl). The company set up in 1988 has 300 employees and achieved sales of some EUR 15m in 2003. Its two plants at Poznan and Grodzisk produce some 14,000 t/y of multilayer and barrier film in PP and PS, together with around 40 million thermoformed pots made from this film. Main customer is the Polish dairy industry.
Parallel to acquisitions, Greiner is divesting activities unrelated to its core business of packaging. Its mould-making subsidiary Mould & Matic Solutions (MMS, A-4563 Micheldorf; www.mouldandmatic.com) is to be hived off, with 50% of the shares to be sold to Haidlmair GmbH (A-4542 Nussbach; www.haidlmair.at). Haidlmair, which had sales of around EUR 40m in 2003, claims to be world market leader in injection moulding tools for beverage-crate production and additionally produces moulds for automotive parts and other applications. The company has 350 employees, including 170 at the main plant and the remainder at subsidiaries in Germany, Austria and Hungary. MMS, which employs 170 and reported sales of EUR 13.8m for 2003, produces injection moulding and thermoforming tools as well as handling devices for pots and lids.
