US industrial packaging producer Greif (Delaware, Ohio; www.greif.com) is planning to invest a multi-million dollar sum to build an intermediate bulk container (IBC) manufacturing facility at its site in Baytown, Texas / USA. The new plant is scheduled to start operating during the second quarter of 2018.
Greif said the addition of IBC production complements its existing product line at Baytown as well as enhances its ability to service the needs of its customers. The company operates multiple plants in the Houston area with a broad portfolio of steel, fibre and plastic drums, in addition to providing filling, packaging, warehousing and export preparation services.
“This is an investment in our customers which will strengthen and align our production by providing a solution in a key US region for the speciality and bulk chemical and the petroleum and lube industries,” said Ole Rosgaard, senior vice president and group president of Greif, Rigid Industrial Packaging & Services – Americas. He added that around 50 new jobs will be created as a result of the investment.
