Automobile components supplier opens second production facility in Serbia
German-based Grammer (Amberg; www.grammer.com), a supplier of components and systems for car interiors, is planning to open its second production plant in Aleksinac / Serbia – some 200 km southeast of Belgrad. According to the country's Ministry of Finance and Economy, Grammer plans to buy the Stirokos factory currently located on the site for its new plant and begin rebuilding it for its specialised production. The company plans to have 520 employees working in the new facility producing seats and headrests by the end of 2013.
The Serbian government has announced it will pay Grammer EUR 7,000 for each new employee the company hires for the new facility. Grammer, which also develops and manufactures driver and passenger seats for trucks, buses and trains, has had a presence in Serbia since 2007. Its orginal manufacturing facility in Aleksinac employs 720 individuals and produces armrests and headrests.
