Growth in 2002 / Major system order for new VW Passat / Two assembly facilities
According to provisional figures, seat manufacturer Grammer AG (D-92204 Amberg; www.grammer.de) increased group sales to EUR 778m (721m) in 2002. The net result remained at the same level as the previous year, at just above EUR 23m.
At the start of 2003, Grammer was awarded a seven-year contract for the entire central console system, including integral arm rest, for the VW Passat. This is the first time that the company has acted as system leader, and it is extending its core competence in PU to take in thermoplastics processing. The volume of the order is in the region of EUR 350m. Just- in-sequence delivery is scheduled to start in November 2004. Grammer is building two new assembly facilities to this end, at the VW locations in Mosel and Emden. These cover almost 10,000 m2 and will provide jobs for 130 employees.
