Acquisition of troubled Italian machinery manufacturer Techne
Graham Packaging Company Italia, a subsidiary of Graham Packaging (York, Pennsylvania / USA; www.grahampackaging.com), is to acquire the assets of Technipack Engineering Italia (Castel Guelfo / Italy; www.technespa.com) – or Techne – for EUR 8.8m. The Italian extrusion blow moulding machinery manufacturer applied for creditor protection late in 2010 – see Plasteurope.com of 23.11.2010.
Techne has an installed customer base of over 1,000 machines with more than 200 businesses in over 70 countries. Its machines produce bottles for end use applications in the dairy, household, industrial, personal care, pharmaceutical, food and beverage markets. Graham intends to acquire intellectual property, inventory, fixed assets, customer relationships, and trade agreements, and intends to continue operating Techne’s manufacturing site in Bologna / Italy.
Techne is now under liquidation proceedings with the Court of Bologna / Italy. Graham’s intention to purchase the assets of Techne is subject to approval by Techne’s creditors.
