Expansion of refrigerator and freezer plant in Serbia / Government subsidies offered

Slovenian domestic appliance manufacturer Gorenje (Velenje; www.gorenje.com) plans to expand its refrigerator and freezer manufacturing plant in Valjevo / Serbia. Under a memorandum of understanding signed with the Serbian government, Serbia would support the investment with grants and subsidies amounting to EUR 5m-7m. The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 20m.
Gorenje said about 400 new jobs would be created at the expanded Valjevo plant by the end of 2015. The investment is subject to final confirmation by Gorenje and the Serbian government.
