Aerospace, defence and security systems supplier Goodrich Corporation (Charlotte, North Carolina / USA; www.goodrich.com) has acquired Crompton Technology Group (CTG, Banbury / UK; www.ctgltd.co.uk) for an undisclosed amount. CTG is a leading designer and manufacturer of carbon fibre products for the aerospace, defence, advanced vehicle and clean energy markets. The privately-owned company employs 150 people and has particular expertise in five-axis filament winding.

“CTG’s innovative composite design, engineering and manufacturing experience has positioned it for significant future growth as aircraft currently in development transition into production,” outlined Jack Carmola, segment president for actuation and landing systems at Goodrich. “We intend to leverage CTG’s proprietary technology across a number of Goodrich products to benefit commercial and military customers worldwide.”

CTG products are used on a range of diverse aerospace platforms in production and development, including transmission shafts for flight control and power drive systems, as well as specialised pipes used in fuel systems. Other composite products include flywheels and accumulators used in the clean energy and advanced vehicle markets.

CTG managing director Scott Roberts said the company had grown rapidly in the last few years, gaining recognition as a composites innovator. “In joining Goodrich,” he explained, “we look forward to continuing to grow the business while maintaining our entrepreneurial drive for designing and manufacturing increasingly advanced technical solutions.”
