New plastic packaging factory in Angola / Plans to become sub-Saharan Africa's biggest plastic packaging producer
Angolan packaging producer Glopol Angola Industrial (Porto Seco, Viana; www.glopol.mobi) has opened a new plant in Viana municipality, which will be able to produce 60,000 plastic pallets as well as 240,000 boxes each year. Commenting on the commissioning of the new facility, plant director Campos Oliveira told local media that the company plans to become sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest producer and exporter of plastic packaging and transport goods by 2014. The opening was attended by Angola’s geology, mining and industry minister Joaqim David, who said the facility would reduce the country’s imports of plastic packaging.
Founded in 2008, Glopol Angola first began production in H2 2010. The main products include crates, pallets, bins and waste containers. Aside from its headquarters in Angola, the company also operates in Maputo / Mozambique.
