Global Closure Systems (GCS, Saint-Cloud / France; www.gcs.com) has signed a licensing agreement with Duplas Al Sharq (Dubai / United Arab Emirates; www.duplas.ae), a leading FMCG plastic packaging manufacturer located in Jebel Ali. Duplas specialises in HDPE, PET, PP and PC bottles and closures, supplying multinationals in the Middle East including Elf, Emirates National Oil, Henkel, Reckitt Benckiser, Shell and Total.
Under the agreement, Duplas will be able to sell a wide range of GCS standard closures, as well as locally made closures based on GCS technology, to the beverage, food, personal care and household markets within the fast-growing Gulf Co-operation Council area.
This is the 11th licensing agreement for GCS. Jean-Francois Autret, GCS’ licensing manager, said; “We are confident in the ability of Duplas Al Sharq to respond to the increasing demand for plastic closure solutions in the UAE and the wider Gulf region. This partnership will also be of significant value to GCS in serving multinational customers who are increasingly searching for suppliers able to manufacture closures to consistently high quality levels across the globe.”
GCS is one of the world’s largest suppliers of closure systems for the FMCG market, manufacturing nearly 40 bn plastic and metal closures every year. Consolidated revenue reached EUR 591m in 2014.
