French-based Global Closure Systems (GCS, Saint-Cloud; www.gcs.com) has announced that its latest plant, an expansion of Zeller Plastik Mexico,(www.zelleramericas.com) is now complete and ready for operation. The global provider of plastic closure solutions for the FMCG market said in a statement that it has expanded the plant’s production surface by more than 30% and upgraded the warehouse area with 25% more floor space.
The facility can now operate up to 40 injection machines and over 30 machines for its complementary process station. Located on the outskirts of Mexico City, in the heart of the industrial zone, the plant has been undergoing a transformation since mid-2012. The original facility opened its doors in 1994.
Sandy Almirall, vice president of the company’s Americas region, said that not only does the larger facility help GCS meet growing demand in the Region, but is just the beginning of further plans to enlarge manufacturing operations in Mexico by 2017.
