Rigid plastic packaging specialist Gizeh (Bergneustadt / Germany; www.gizeh.com) is busy preparing a new North American production unit for start up by the end of 2013. Located in the Canadian city of Brantford, the new site will supply customers in North America and continue to expand business. The company has set a goal of achieving a turnover of more than EUR 10m within the next three years. No further details of its investment in the new Canadian facility were provided.
Located just south of Toronto, Gizeh Packaging NA will initially offer technologies such as deep drawing, injection moulding and labelling. The first customer contracts have already been inked and the first plastic packaging will roll off the belt and be labelled by the end of the year. Installation of the first sleeve system is planned for the beginning of 2014.
“North America is an extremely interesting market, particularly for our technologically advanced packaging and decoration solutions for milk and dairy products,” says company CEO Ralf Jung, adding, “This is an optimal location for serving our existing and potential customers in Canada and, at the same time, it is a good springboard for our further development of the US market. The US border is only 150 km away and the metropolitan region of Detroit, where many foodstuffs companies are located, is only three hours away."
The Brantford, Ontario location marks the sixth production location for the East German company. In addition to its Bergneustadt and Elsterwerda locations in Germany, the company also has production sites in France (Angers), Poland (Tarnowo) and Switzerland (Schlatt).
