Italian machinery producer reports technology advances / New 5- and 7-layer barrier films
Italian machinery manufacturer Ghioldi (I-21050 Marnate VA; www.ghioldi.it) has recently updated its production range. The new co-extrusion blowing lines with five and seven layers are especially significant and are claimed to “display excellent efficiency and productivity.” The design of new extrusion screws, assisted by special development software, has enabled processing of several polymers without the need to replace the screws. This dramatically cuts set-up time in production change, while ensuring at the same time the best possible plasticisation in processed materials, says the company.

Cast lines, one of Ghioldi´s “claims to fame,” have now attained reliability and quality worthy of major names in the sector, the company reports. Thanks to the use of flat dies from leading worldwide brands, the Italian machinery producer says it has been able to develop single and multi-layer cast lines with productivity exceeding 1,000 kg/hour. Lines for production of biodegradable film are now available in single- and co-extrusion types.
