GF Piping Systems, a division of Georg Fischer (GF, Schaffhausen / Switzerland; www.georgfischer.com), is acquiring FGS Brasil Indústria e Comércio (FGS, Cajamar / Brazil; www.fgsbrasil.com.br) for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition is expected to close during the first quarter of 2021.
FGS is Brazil’s leading manufacturer of HDPE pipes and fittings with two production sites in Cajamar, near São Paulo, and in the Greater Recife/Pernambuco area, serving the local water, gas and other industrial sectors. The company employs 240 people and has annual sales of about BRL 160m (EUR 25m).
Brazil is currently implementing a major government initiative to develop its infrastructure, especially in the water and gas utility sectors. Both GF and FGS are already working together on replacing the piping network in the São Paulo region.
GF said the acquisition will provide a unique platform for further growth, both in Brazil and in South America. “As a specialist in sustainable solutions for the safe transport of fluids and in reducing water losses, we are looking forward to realising the growth opportunities together with FGS,” commented GF’s CEO Andreas Müller. FGS chief executive Roberto Gadotti added that the transaction will “derive positive synergies and will provide a strong foundation that supports accelerated growth within numerous markets and product segments.”
