Gerresheimer (Düsseldorf / Germany; www.gerresheimer.com) is expanding its production capacity for medical plastic systems at its plant in Peachtree City, Georgia / USA. The drug delivery system manufacturer said it is increasing the production area by 5,600 m² to meet growing demand for products such as inhalers and insulin pens. Two thirds of the additional production area will be ISO class 8 cleanroom.
The project is expected to require a “double digit million dollars” investment cost and result in the creation of about 120 new jobs in the medium-term, Gerresheimer said. Operations are expected to begin next year. A company spokesman told Plasteurope.com the investment would more than double its existing capacities.
“We’re experiencing worldwide growth in demand for user friendly, safe and easy to use medical devices such as inhalers and insulin pens,” said Andreas Schütte, Gerresheimer board member responsible for the plastics and devices division.
