New production hall ready to supply insulin pen components
Following the completion of a new production hall at its site in Horšovský Týn / Czech Republic, the medical plastic systems business (MPS; Regensburg / Germany) of Gerresheimer Group (Düsseldorf / Germany; www.gerresheimer.com) has begun producing components for a new order of insulin pens from healthcare company Sanofi (Paris / France). The preparations for the production – including the new hall, required qualifications and validations – took 18 months to complete. The company announced previously plans for significant worldwide investment in its MPS business in December 2012 – see Plasteurope.com of 10.12.2012.

The structural components for the disposable insulin pen consist of several plastic parts manufactured by MPS and a bought-in bending spring. The final pen assembly is carried out at Sanofi's facility in Frankfurt / Germany.
