Plastics conversion business ended / Subsidiary TG PolyTech sold to Italian group
Tettauer Glashüttenwerke AG (Christian-Hammerschmidt-Str. 57, D-96355 Tettau-Kleintettau), a company of Gerresheimer Glas AG (Mörsenbroicher Weg 191, D-40470 Düsseldorf), sold its subsidiary TG PolyTech Kunststoff GmbH (Christian-Hammerschmidt-Str. 57, D-96355 Tettau-Kleintettau) to the Italian packaging group Bormioli International S.A. of Parma. TG PolyTech reports that the world-renowned Bormioli Group has earned its excellent worldwide reputation in plastic packaging for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. TG PolyTech sees the acquisition as a fusion of production capabilities and product ranges: PolyTech products are already available for the extrusion blow, injection blow and injection stretch blow moulding processes, even under clean room conditions, including surface finishing, as well as an extensive range of caps and accessories from several international production sites. TG PolyTech has a production capacity of approx. 180m bottles p.a. and DEM 20m in turnover.
For Gerresheimer, the sale is part of its strategy to more aggressively take advantage of growth opportunitites in up-scale markets in its target segments of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and specialty glass. Gerresheimer sold its plastics conversion subsidiaries Bramlage GmbH (D-49378 Lohne) and Verpackungs-Industrie Kutenholz GmbH (D-27449 Kutenholz) in 1993.
