The GF Piping Systems unit of Georg Fischer (GF, Schaffhausen / Switzerland; www.georgfischer.com) is increasing its business with the mining sector after having received a major order from Australia. The CHF 8m (EUR 6.6m) deal calls for the Swiss company to deliver HDPE pipe systems for the planned expansion of a local mining group.

The business considers the order to be a milestone in its mining activities, where plastic pipes are used to transport water over large distances and then retreat it. Application fields include the separation of minerals, water supply and distribution to and within the mine as well as the allocation of processing water for hydraulic works.
