The Piping Systems business of Swiss industrial group Georg Fischer (GF, Schaffhausen; www.georgfischer.com) inaugurated its new production facility in Ratnagiri / India on 4 November 2009. The plant will produce fittings made of PE 100, a company spokeswoman told PIE. The fittings are mainly intended for expanding India’s natural gas network.
Commenting on the inauguration, Pietro Lori, the head of GF Piping Systems, said, “With its population of 1.3 billion and huge pent-up demand for infrastructure projects, India is an important part of our growth strategy. Gas distribution is certainly a growth sector.”
The project, which cost several million Swiss francs, is part of GF Piping Systems’ expansion plans – see Plasteurope.com of 03.06.2009.
