Rebranding as Axiall Corporation following merger with PPG
Once the merger with PPG Industries’ (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania / USA; www.ppg.com) commodity chemicals business is wrapped up (see also Plasteurope.com of 24.07.2012), US PVC producer Georgia Gulf (Atlanta, Georgia; www.ggc.com) will change its name to Axiall Corporation (www.axiallcorp.com), the company announced. “The new and distinctive brand represents a clear break from the legacy names of the two businesses, and gives us the flexibility to enter new markets, make future acquisitions, and diversify our portfolio without the need to rebrand our organisation,” said company CEO Paul Carrico.
According to preliminary 2012 results, Georgia Gulf generated net sales of about USD 3.3 bn last year, a 3% year-on-year rise. The company expects adjusted EBITDA to reach between USD 330-340m. The merger with PPG will create a vinyls group with a forecast sales volume of USD 5 bn and nameplate capacities for 2m t/y of ethylene dichloride (EDC), 1.8m t/y of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) as well as 1m t/y of PVC.
