Broad product range / New plant in Thuringia for PP foam mouldings / Sales of DEM 130m
Gefinex Polymerschäume GmbH (Rote Erde 6, D-33803 Steinhagen) has begun producing polymer foam articles at its new facility in Ohrdruf in Thuringia in eastern Germany (Herrenhofer Landstr. 6, D-99885 Ohrdruf). At this site, the company manufactures, among other things, mouldings of EPP (expanded PP), a new low-density particle foam with high energy absorption for sound insulation in the automotive industry. According to company statistics, Gefinex, together with its sister companies, covers the entire world demand for EPP products for the automotive segment. For the construction industry and medical segment, Gefinex processes mainly XPS, PE and PU foams. Other production focuses include returnable transport systems and packagings.
Via the Gefinex group, the company belongs to the Swedish Group Fagerdala World Foams AB (S-13482 Gustavsberg), which supplies the world market with foam products through its subsidiaries in many countries. In 1997, with its 400 employees at five German and one Belgian site, the Gefinex group posted sales of around DEM 130m.
