At this year´s Hanover Trade Fair, Gefinex Polymerschäume GmbH (D-99885 Ohrdruf) presented innovative single-material sandwich structures in foamed PP film and PP particle foam for the first time. These are processed into a sandwich structure through flame lamination. The material combination, known under the brand name “Fawo Top”, is used in automotive engineering for roof liners and for column and lateral trim. The material can be used in the transport sector for the production of cargo carriers, boxes and folding crates, etc. As Gefinex stated: “apart from the potential weight reduction compared with the materials used to date, further economic advantages are derived from the particularly good processing properties, simplified recycling and problem-free disposal of the new composite material”.

Gefinex is the European centre for foamed polymers of the Fagerdala World Foams Group. The new location in Ohrdruf/Thuringia was officially inaugurated in September of last year (for more details see Plasteurope.com 10, 1999).
