French injection moulding tools plant to close
French automotive supplier Faurecia (Nanterre; www.faurecia.com) plans to phase out production of injection moulding tools at its Audincourt / France site by mid-2008 and source the products from other manufacturers. The plant, where some 85 people are employed, will be closed. A spokesman told Plasteurope.com that intense international competition, in particular from low-wage countries, has pressured margins and reduced sales by 37% since 2004. He said the company has accumulated losses of EUR 9m on the business that expects sales of EUR 8.3 bn in 2007.
