FAKUMA
German trade fair attracts more than 44,000 visitors / 31% of attendees from abroad / Exhibitors' assessments vary
The 22nd edition of “Fakuma” (www.fakuma-messe.de), held in Friedrichshafen / Germany from 16-20 October 2012, drew 44,176 visitors, organiser P.E. Schall (Frickenhausen / Germany; www.schall-messen.de) said. That figure is 1.4% less than the 44,823 people who made their way to the event last year. The share of international visitors had constantly wavered over the past decade, but in 2012 reached a peak of 31% (2011: 30%).

While many of the machinery exhibitors reported good business and testified to positive mid-term prospects, plastics producers, distributors and compounders said their business was largely characterised by weak demand and lower volumes. Core machinery producers and other large exhibitors in particular reported strong interest in their products.
All in all, 1,694 exhibitors (2011: 1,672) showcased their products in the 12 halls in Friedrichshafen. One key criticism many visitors shared with Plasteurope.com was the fact that displays were not organised according to theme. Since next year will be a “K” year, the next Fakuma will take place in Friedrichshafen from 14-18 October 2014.
