"Ghana Plast 2017" to take place in October / African polymer demand forecast for growth
"Ghana Plast 2017" (www.ghanaplast.com) will be held from 6 - 8 October in Accra / Ghana. Co-organised by Verifair (Dubai / UAE; www.verifair.org), FairAct (Mumbai / India; www.fairact.in) and Orange (Accra; www.orangeimc.com), it is an international trade fair for plastics, PVC and compounds, packaging and petrochemicals, which will take place at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre.
According to Verifair, Ghana has one of the highest GDP per capita in Africa. The West African plastics industry saw increased imports of plastics machinery and equipment from USD 107.9m in 2010 to USD 195.7m in 2015, an annual growth rate of 13% over the last several years. In addition, plastics imports into Africa have grown between 23 - 41% during the past six years, and African polymer demand is forecast to grow 8% per year over the next five years.
The rise in plastics demand has attracted foreign investment into the African industry, particularly from China and India. Infrastructure development and the expansion of Africa’s middle class are key drivers for polymer demand.
