Third “PlastPrintPack West Africa” to be held in Ghana in early December / Increasing plastics machinery demand
The third edition of “PlastPrintPack West Africa” (www.ppp-westafrica.com) will take place in Accra / Ghana from 1-3 December this year. The fair on plastics, composites and chemistry as well as printing and packaging solutions and material is organised by fairtrade (Heidelberg / Germany; www.fairtrade-messe.de) and enjoys the support of the Ministries of Food & Agriculture as well as Trade & Industry, and the embassies of Germany, France, Italy and The Netherlands.
The fair gives exhibitors and visitors access to the West African market. According to data published by the German association for plastics and rubber machinery VDMA Kunststoff- und Gummimaschinen (KuG, Frankfurt; http://kug.vdma.org), imports of plastics machinery and equipment to the region rose from EUR 96.9m in 2010 to EUR 148.6m in 2013. Imports of packaging machinery and equipment also increased, from EUR 146.8m in 2010 to EUR 291.4m in 2013.
The main interest of visitors to the 2014 edition, faitrade says, was packaging machinery and materials, followed by waste and recycling as well as packaging machines and devices.
