The 20th “Eurasia International Packaging Industry Fair” (www.packagingfair.com) will take place in Istanbul from 18-21 September this year. Co-located with “Istanbul Food-Tech” (www.foodtechistanbul.com), the four-day event brings together packaging machinery and product suppliers. The fair, organised by Reed Tüyap (Istanbul; www.reedtuyap.com.tr), will include two special sections. The first, “Packaging Printing Technologies”, will highlight innovations in the printing field, while the second, “Interphex”, will showcase packaging solutions to the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry.

Last year’s event drew 1,200 exhibitors from 41 different countries, an 11% rise over 2012. Visitor numbers exceeded 45,000, of which close to 4,000 came from abroad, the organiser said. Against the background of Turkey’s booming markets – the food and beverage sector is expected to grow by a CAGR of 8% to USD 225 bn in 2017 – the event is a key platform for global and local players to experience first-hand the opportunities in this particular market.
