Launch of "Plastivision Arabia"
From 14-17 May, the first edition of "Plastivision Arabia" is scheduled to take place at Expo Centre Sharjah (Sharjah / United Arab Emirates; www.expo-centre.ae/en). The event is organised and hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah and the All India Plastics Manufacturer's Association (AIPMA, Mumbai / India; www.aipma.net). Of the 125 exhibitors from all over the world, nearly 70 are from India alone, displaying the show's importance for the subcontinent's machinery suppliers, which are eager to tap into the fast-expanding plastics and petrochemicals sector in the UAE. Plastivision Arabia is sponsored by international raw materials players Uniplas and Borouge (Abu Dhabi / UAE; www.borouge.com).
According to the latest report of market researcher GlobalData (London / UK; www.globaldata.com) basic petrochemicals capacity in the Middle East grew by a compounded annual rate of 11.1% to 46.6m t/y between 2000 and 2011, as the region is building-up a higher-value plastics sector capable of delivering greater profits and creating secondary manufacturing industries and services, opening up plenty of opportunities for businesses operating in this field.
