The “JEC Composites Show 2000” held this year from 18-20 April in Paris with 700 exhibitors is the largest business platform in the composites industry today. According to the organisor JEC S.A. (4 rue Rembrandt, F-75008 Paris) 17,409 visitors were recorded (an increase of 18 % compared to last year). On a surface of 23,000 m² (an increase of 15% compared to 1999), 85 countries were represented. Around 65% of exhibitors were foreign companies. Representatives of South Africa, China, Mexico, among others, attended the exhibition. French, German, Italian and American pavilions were set up.

The JEC Composites Show has become the first international exhibition for the composites sector, with 56 % of visitors coming from foreign countries. According to Frederique Mutel, general manager of JEC S.A., “this was an exceptional ratio of foreign visitors at an exhibition held in France.”

The show caters for the most part to industry sectors such as building and construction, industrial applications, marine, automotive, sports and leisure, etc. This year´s focus was on the production of large-scale products to be used by the construction, water and transport industries. Some of the most innovative projects were rewarded at the JEC Awards Show on April 18.

This year´s JEC Composite Show 2000 also focused on the use of composites for building construction. “Focus on construction” was organised to spotlight the industrial profile and performances of building components. In 2001, the JEC Composites Show will be held April 27-29 at CNIT Paris La Defense.
