Purchase of Sealed Air's European food trays business and “Cryovac” brand / Manufacturing sites in UK and Spain

Danish food industry packaging and tray supplier Faerch Plast (Holstebro; www.faerchplast.com) is to acquire the European food trays business of US protective packaging supplier Sealed Air (Elmwood Park, New Jersey; www.sealedair.com). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The business manufactures packaging for fresh meat, salad, fruit and food service. The proposed acquisition comprises manufacturing facilities in Poole / UK and Buñol, Valencia / Spain as well as their associated operating companies and commercial activities. The two sites have an annual revenue of around EUR 47m and a total of 250 employees. Through the deal, Faerch Plast will acquire the established “Cryovac” food-packaging brand.

This is the Danish company’s second acquisition this year, six months after the purchase of UK-based Anson Packaging – see Plasteurope.com of 28.04.2015.
