Pultruded and wound composite profiles manufacturer Exel Composites (Mäntyharju / Finland; www.exelcomposites.com), plans to build a new, larger plant in Kapfenberg / Austria by mid-2020. The company is investing EUR 7m into the new production facility to replace the plant it is currently renting at the same location, which produces special profiles for the electrical and mechanical industries as well as the railway and paper processing sectors.
In 2016, Exel had put the schedule for a new building in Kapfenberg on hold due to a weak market situation. CEO Riku Kytömäki has now announced that the company is resuming the project.
At the end of April 2019, the Finns had closed their profile production in Voerde, near Duisburg / Germany. Exel expects this measure to lead to savings of EUR 1m as of 2020 – see Plasteurope.com of 15.02.2019.
