EVONIK
New PPA compounds on display at “Fakuma” / Focus on automotive applications
Germany’s Evonik (Essen / Germany; www.evonik.com) is spotlighting its new portfolio of “Vestamid” HT-plus PA 6T and PA 10T-based polyphthalamide (PPA) products at the “Fakuma 2012” trade fair held from 16 to 20 October in Friedrichshafen / Germany (www.fakuma-messe.de). The range includes a variant with a glass fibre content of 45%.
The group says its bio-based PA 10T is “even more efficient” than the better known sister product PA 6T, as it is easier to process, has better mechanical properties and offers a lower waste uptake. Reinforcement capabilities of the basic grades are said to take account of the high demands required by automotive applications. Materials can combine reinforcements of coal, mineral, glass fibre and mineral fibre.
Evonik also markets new types of PPA for use in laser direct structuring, including materials in Fire Protection class F0 with 0.4mm wall thickness.
