Evonik Industries (Essen / Germany; www.evonik.com) has expanded its “Trogamid” range with the introduction of “Trogamid” myCX, a premium brand of high-performance polyamide developed specifically for the manufacture of sports glass and sunglass lenses. Lenses made in the material can be drilled, ground, and milled, and dyed in any colour. The polyamide’s microcrystalline structure allows light transmission of 92%. Evonik says that it offers low density and high break and stress resistance making sunglasses strong, light and safe. The company also offers plastic films made in the material suitable for laminating and decorating optical parts.
