From 13 to 15 May, the Austrian city of Klagenfurt will host the inaugural Circular Plastics Experience Summit (Cirplex). Organised by trade fair company Kärntner Messen (Klagenfurt; www.kaerntnermessen.at), the event is marketed as a combination of trade fair and congress, with a strong focus on sustainability and circularity within the plastics industry.

Organisers said Cirplex is geared towards decision-makers from plastics production, processing, and recycling in Austria, the Alpine-Adriatic region, southern Germany, and Central and Southeastern Europe.

The congress programme includes presentations such as one by Ingo Sartorius of industry-affiliated think tank BKV (Frankfurt, Germany; www.bkv-gmbh.de) on the topic contribution of plastics to carbon circularity. Andreas Witschnigg of PreZero Polymers Austria is set to speak on the economic, technical, and regulatory challenges of mechanical recycling of household packaging waste. Virginia Janssens, managing director of the European plastics producers’ association PlasticsEurope (Brussels; www.plasticseurope.org), is scheduled to participate in a panel discussion titled, How can Europe regain its pioneering role in the plastics industry – both internally and in global competition?

The event is expected to feature 3,200 m² of exhibition space, welcoming 60 exhibitors and 35 expert speakers. According to the organisers, a highlight of the programme includes three live-experience tours, offering attendees hands-on insights into practical innovations across the plastics value chain.

Plasteurope.com (Bad Homburg, Germany; www.ki.de) will be present in Klagenfurt as a media partner for the Cirplex premiere.
