More than 50 industry experts attended MedPharmPlast Europe's conference in France

On 4-5 July 2018, the "MedPharmPlast Europe conference" hosted more than 50 industry experts in Lyon / France. MedPharmPlast Europe (MPPE; Brussels / Belgium; www.medpharmplasteurope.org) is a sector group of European Plastics Converters (EuPC, Brussels; www.plasticsconverters.eu), and represents the European value chain of plastic medical devices as well as pharmaceutical packaging. The event was organised in collaboration with contract research organisation Nelson Labs Europe (Leuven / Belgium; www.nelsonlabs.be).
Some of the speakers included Thor Rollins (Nelson Labs), who outlined the upcoming changes to ISO 10993, the standard for the biological evaluation of medical devices, Silvia Freni Sterrantino (EuPC), who gave an update on the EU's plastics strategy and non-toxic environment strategy, as well as Gregoire Gauthier (Nemera), who presented sustainability issues and examples of eco-design with various medical devices.
MPPE's membership is growing, and currently the association has 19 European members. The latest to join up is pharmaceutical giant Sanofi, which employs over 100,000 people worldwide.
