Plastics Recyclers Europe's annual meeting to take place in Portugal in October / Focus on plastics waste collection
Plastics Recyclers Europe's (PRE, Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticsrecyclers.eu) annual conference will run from 11-12 October 2018 in Cascais / Portugal. This year, the conference focus is on "Increased Collection – cornerstone for higher recycling rates".
Among the actions laid out in the EU's plastics strategy are improvements for increasing plastics recycling rates in Europe. PRE says the European plastics industry must work with stakeholders on design for recycling, boosting uptake of recyclates and improving sorting schemes to reach the European Commission's ambitious targets. One fundamental step in reaching the targets is to increase collection rates.
The first day of the event will consist of PRE working group meetings, which are reserved to members. The main conference on the second day is open to the public. Confirmed speakers at the conference so far include Kestutis Saduskas (European Commission) and José Inácio Faria (European Parliament), as well as Paul Baeyens (DS Smith) and Javier Constante (Dow Europe). The event attracts attendees from across the plastics value chain, including recyclers, collectors, sorting companies, converters, raw material producers, brand owners as well as academics and decision makers.
Registration will open on 14 June. Click here to book accommodation at a special rate until 6 July 2018.
