EVENTS
“Regions for Recycling” project presents its successes to date at two separate events in Brussels and Sofia
Three years after it was first founded, the members of the “Regions for Recycling” project (R4R; www.regions4recycling.eu) will be presenting their results at two separate events. The first will take place in Brussels / Belgium on 17 September and will include a debate of the review of waste management targets related to the revised EC Waste Framework Directive (for details, see Plasteurope.com of 04.07.2014). The one-day event, attendance of which is free of charge, will also address local and regional instruments that help improve waste prevention and recycling.
The second event, the “R4R final congress”, will take place in Sofia / Bulgaria on 23 October. At this point, all the deliverables of the project will be presented, including the harmonised R4R methodology that allows cities and regions to compare their performances, good practices as well as the online tool that allows for follow-up evaluations and comparisons.
The members of the project, which is supported by the European Commission, are the Ile-de-France Regional Waste Management Observatory (ORDIF; www.ordif.com/), the Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and Sustainable Resource Management (ACR+, Brussels / Belgium; www.acrplus.org), the Public Waste Agency of Flanders (OVAM, Brussels / Belgium; www.ovam.be/), Odense Waste Management (Odense / Denmark; www.odensewaste.com), Lisbon City Council (Lisbon / Portugal; www.cm-lisboa.pt), the Greek network of municipalities (Efxini Poli, Ano Liossia / Greece; www.efxini.gr), the Southern Waste Region Management (Limerick / UK; www.managewaste.ie), the Federal State Government of Styria (Graz / Austria; www.abfallwirtschaft.steiermark.at), Tallinn City (Estonia; www.tallinn.ee), the Waste Agency of Catalonia (ARC, Barcelona / Spain; http://gencat.cat/), the Municipality of Sofia (Bulgaria; www.sofia.bg), the City of Zagreb (Croatia; www.zagreb.hr) and Ilfov County Council (Bucharest / Romania; www.cjilfov.ro).
