“7th International Conference on Bio-Based Materials” to be held in Cologne in April
The “7th International Conference on Bio-based Materials” (www.bio-based.eu/conference), organised by nova-Institut (Huerth / Germany; www.nova-institut.de), will take place in Cologne / Germany from 8-10 April 2014. The three-day event is geared not only at companies producing biobased plastics and composites or running biorefineries, it also addresses presentatives of political bodies and associations, the organiser said, adding that the conference is one of the biggest of its kind in the world, having drawn 180 global participants and 10 exhibitors last year. This year, nova-Institut expects visitor numbers to exceed 200, with about 20 exhibitors.
Each day will include a specific focus, with the emphasis on day one on policy and industry. Speakers include representatives from the German Education and Research Ministry, Styron, the Italian Association for the development of Biotechnology Assobiotec and Novamont, among others. In the afternoon, the companies put up for this year’s innovation award for the “Bio-based Material of the Year 2014” will present their respective materials. Day two of the conference focuses on bio-based building blocks and polymers, with presentations from Reverdia, Succinity, Myriant and Avantium Chemicals among others. The afternoon session will be dedicated to bio-based composites. Rounding up the event on day three is a focus on start-ups and science.
